Staying Hungry

“Staying Hungry” can mean a lot of things….to me “Staying Hungry” means grit, determination, pursuing a goal, a dream or sometimes simply getting through the day or not giving up. Some days the posts here will be inspirational, some days they’ll be more instructional. The fact is, we’re all human and some days we have good to great days, some days are bad and others? Well - they may not actually be hell, but you can see it from there. And then there are the days from hell - days when we lose a loved one, suffer the loss of a child, a job, a marriage, a beloved pet. You’re not alone. We’ve either all been there, or we’ll be there one day. This blog deals with that from time to time as well.

In another sense, “Staying Hungry” is about not being complacent or satisfied once we do reach our goals. It means constantly trying out new things or looking for new inspiration. If you look at babies, they’re always “staying hungry” - learning to sit up, to roll over, to walk, to talk, to run, to read. For them - life is one long serious of trial and error and they don’t seem to mind at all. What changes for them, and for us - is we suddenly become cognizant of the judgment of other people. We begin to want to feel safe, to not look stupid, to succeed rather than fail. We forget that “failing” or “falling” is how we learn and how we grow. Some of us never develop that “fire in the belly” that drives us to persist no matter what the odds against us. Others are so passionate about our belief in someone or something that nothing will stop us from achieving it - not a lack of funds, health, friends, support or time. Most of us fall somewhere in the middle of that curve.

At its core, this “Staying Hungry” blog is all about the obstacles we overcome, the barriers we break through and the inspiration, skills, tools and knowledge we use to not only survive, but to thrive in this life. I hope you find something here that enlightens, inspires or motivates you to not give up on life or what happens over the course of it. More importantly, I hope it inspires and motivates you to look at things in a different way - to develop or nurture a passion or interest, to overcome an obstacle, to pursue a dream.

I am glad I found your blog. Although I have always been motivated to “stay hungry,” your inspiration allows me to reach further than I might otherwise.
